Obituary

TreJuan Elijah Raheem Byrd, a student at Morehouse College, Atlanta, GA, transitioned from this life into eternity, unexpectedly and peacefully, on July 31, 2022 at his home in Marietta, GA.  TreJuan was born September 8, 2000 in Statesboro, GA to Juan Byrd and Zymenia Butler.  He attended the public schools of Candler County and Bulloch County, GA until his family relocated to Marietta.  In 2019, he graduated, with honors, from Marietta High School.

TreJuan, affectionately known as “Tre” was a phenomenal  young man.  With amazing intellect, he was a high achiever.  He gave 100% to everything that he was involved in.  He was always striving to accomplish new goals and learn new things. 

Success was Tre’s personal desire and motivation.  He was a member of the ASA Chapter of the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Kappa League, and a Prince Hall Mason. Tre’ was a born leader and honed his leadership skills by participating in educational leadership programs sponsored by The Georgia Power Institute and The Atlanta Braves Leadership Institute and the YELLS, Inc., Youth Empowerment Through Learning, Leading, and Serving, of Marietta, GA.   In 2016, Tre” was feature in The Atlanta Magazine as one of the five finalists in the Georgia Poet Laureate’s Prize Program.   

He was a selfless and compassionate humanitarian.  He organized “A Day at Morehouse” for the male students at Dunbar Elementary School to visit the college and interact with students and faculty.  Because of his passion for improving the quality of life in underserved communities, Tre’ was a recipient of the Bonner Scholarship at Morehouse College. As a Christian, he was involved in foreign missions in Honduras, Central America and Uganda, East Africa. He participated in youth groups in churches in Marietta and Atlanta. He was a member of the Turner Chapel AME Church STOMP Step Team Ministry. 

Tre’ also had entrepreneurial skills. He was the owner of TreFiveonFilm Photography. Along with that, he held down a job at Express Clothing in Atlanta.

Tre’ had a zest for life that positively affected everyone who knew him.  He impacted and empowered the lives of friends, peers, and family.  He had a deep love for his family. He enjoyed old school music; writing poetry, songs, and screenplays; he was a student of various genres of music, philosophy, and videography.

Tre is survived by his father; Juan Byrd, Metter, GA; his mother, Pastor Zymenia (Mario) McGill, Marietta, GA; five brothers, Michael Smith, Jr, Deshawn Butler both of Marietta, GA, Isaiah Osborne, Clarksville, TN, Justin Wiggins, Atlanta, GA and Andon Byrd, Metter, GA; two sisters, Yadeisha Butler, Marietta, GA and Marissa McGill, Mobile, AL; paternal grandparents, Wallace and Maude Byrd, Metter, GA; maternal grandmother, Elitha (Kelvin) Lang, Metter, GA; maternal grandfather, Norman Lee, Austell, GA; paternal great-grandmother, Thelma Byrd, Metter, GA; maternal great-grandmother, Ella Holloway, Metter, GA; nine uncles, Giovonni Byrd, Yannick Byrd, Daniel Byrd, Detric Lee, Norman K Lee, Jakavuis Summerlin, Kelvin Lang, Keith Carter and Bishop Samuel McGill; nine aunts, Reba Butler, Keyosha Lee, Yasmina Byrd,  Waynona Potts, April Byrd, Kimberly Coleman, Elonda Byrd, Pamela McGill and Tracy Singh; Uncle T-Beezy had five nephews and nieces, several great uncles, great aunts, cousins and friends.

TreJuan will be greatly missed by his beloved family and countless friends.
