Willie Claude Lanier was born February 17, 1956 in Metter, Georgia to Albert, Sr. and Rosetta Braziel Lanier. He departed this life on April 6, 2020. Willie C. attended the public schools of Candler County and he was a member of the 1975 graduating class of Metter High School. While in high school he was a member of the Metter Tiger Marching Band.
After graduating from high school, Willie C. moved to Atlanta. He secured employment in the hotel industry with Marriott. He worked for Marriott for twenty-five years.
Willie C. returned to Metter several years ago. He was a member of Lakeside First Baptist Church in Metter. He served faithfully as the manager for the Kitchen Ministry and was a dedicated usher for Lakeside First Baptist Church. Willie C. took great pleasure in helping others in any way that he could. He spent most of his time helping the sick and shut in. He was known for his cooking and cleaning skills. He was most recently a caregiver for the Bowen family in Metter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Carlton, James and Albert, Jr. and one sister, Mary.
He leaves to cherish fond memories: four brothers, Larry (Loreen) Lanier of Rincon, GA, John (Jennifer) Lanier and Paul Lanier of Metter, GA, and James Lanier of Claxton, GA; two sisters, Linda (Levon) Byrd of Beaufort, SC and Joann Lanier (Alonzo Holloway); several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A private graveside service will be held Friday, April 10, 2020 at 12 noon at Lakeside First Baptist Church Cemetery.
