Willie George Obituary

Mr. Willie James Rivers George, 80 years old, departed this life on Wednesday, September 1, 2021. He was born in West Palm Beach, Florida to the late Frank Rivers and Emma Lou Wynn on December 4, 1940.

Willie James, affectionately known as Bill George, joined First Baptist Church of Stillmore, Georgia at an early age. He attended the public schools of Candler County, Georgia, and Emanuel County. Willie was raised on a farm in Emanuel County. Once he became of age, he left the farm and began working at the poultry plant in Stillmore. He remained there for several years, working as a lineman. His most memorable job was with the City of Swainsboro Sanitation Department. Willie was a diligent and faithful worker.

Willie was married to the late Bonnie Carswell and to this union three children were born.

Willie or rather Bill to most people, enjoyed having “Tea” and if you liked Bill’s type of “Tea”, he loved you and you would have a good time. Bill showed love towards everyone. Most of all, in his shortcomings, Bill loved the Lord and always kept his faith. He enjoyed fishing and if you needed someone to talk to, Bill always was the one to talk with.

Those left to cherish his memories are: one son, Michael George; two daughters, Niagra George and Bernadetta George; two brothers, Walter George, and Joe Mack (Irene) George; three sisters, Levie Ann George, Patricia (Wallace) Burse, and Joanne Merritt-Hobbs; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
