William James Mincey

Mr. William James Mincey, Sr. was born on March 30, 1938 to the late Mr. Walstein Mincey, Sr. and Mrs. Bertha Lee Fleming Mincey. He departed this life on Sunday, August 31, 2015.

William was a native of Candler County, Georgia until he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in the late 1950’s. There he resided until he moved back home to Metter, Georgia in the early 1990’s. 

William was a member of Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed by the City of Statesboro. William loved to play baseball and he loved to dance. After he was no longer able to care for himself, he resided with and was cared for by his devoted niece Sharon Mincey Edwards.

William was married to the late Shirley Byrd Mincey.

He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Ricky Evans and five siblings, John Henry Mincey, Walstein Mincey, Jr., Georgia Mae Griffin (Paul), Ruby Dell Mason (Walter) and Joseph Mincey.

William is survived by five children, Shirley Kirkland, Williams James (Annette) Mincey, Jr., Joe Rhons Mincey, Robert Lamar Mincey and Gloria Belinda Evans; nine grandchildren, Maurice, Christopher, Charmaine, Ashley, Mical, Donte, Fransha, Maghann and Jaylen; one sister-in-law, Tameka Mincey and a host of great grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins.
