William Joiner Obituary

William Earl Joiner was born November 29, 1948 to William T. Joiner and Eddie Mae Mincey Joiner. He entered eternal rest on Tuesday, February 24, 2021.

He was married to the late Hazel L. Joiner, who preceded him in death in 1999.

He attended Lillian Street High School, Metter, Georgia and he was a member of the graduating class of 1967. He joined Tremount Temple Missionary Baptist Church at a young age where he served as usher and trustee. In his 20’s, he joined his father in the family business, Joiner Plumbing and Electric. He later became the sole proprietor and the business continues to thrive to this day. He was well known in Candler County and surrounding areas as “your neighborhood plumber and electrician” for residential and commercial businesses.

His greatest accomplishments were: working with a variety of contractors in many commercial ventures which attributed to the growth of the City of Metter. God used him, as a servant, to supply needs to others. He lent a helping hand to any one in need by loaning money to people in the neighborhood, bonding people out jail, relieving tenants when in challenging situations, paying property taxes to prevent families from losing their homes and responding to “emergency plumbing/electrical issues” year around. His love for people and care for others allowed him to work even when customers could not pay. He believed “good works will follow you” and his thriving business never declined no matter what the economy was doing. He defended his family members and friends. He was a man of honor and integrity and fought daily for what he believed in. He loved his family, while instilling honesty, hard work, and good values in his children. He was a source of wisdom in the community for young black men to guide them in the right direction. He enjoyed fishing, collecting classic cars, watching drag racing and spending time with family and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He leaves to cherish fond memories: five daughters, Selina Joiner, Metter, GA, Sherry Joiner, Metter, GA, Earlene Daniels (Jamal), Pooler, GA, Cordia Smith, Claxton, GA, and Clarissa Mercer, Macon, GA; one son, Dr. Charles Ellis (Michaela), Raleigh, NC; one sister, Margaret Weaver (Dennis) Twin City, GA; one brother, Joe Joiner (Grace), Metter, GA; four brothers-in-law, Herbert Mincey, Jr., Theron Mincey (Betty), Kelly Mincey (Doreen), and Norris Mincey (Jackie); three sisters-in-laws, Venice Edwards (Earl), Renee Johnson (Terry), and Linda Butler; ten grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He leaves to cherish a devoted friend, Sharon Edwards, who never left his side during his extended illness. The care and compassion provided to him by her was “priceless”. He found a new love with Sharon and her family which brought him much joy.
