Vertie Mae Byrd

Ms. Vertie Mae Byrd was born December 23, 1946 in Metter, Georgia to the late Mr. L.C. Byrd and Mrs. Annie Liza Byrd.  On Saturday, February 17, 2018 she entered into eternal rest at East Georgia Regional Medical Center in Statesboro, Georgia.

She was educated in the public schools of Candler County, Georgia. Vertie was employed with the Candler County Board of Education for twenty-seven (27) years in Food Service. She accepted Christ at an early age and became a member of Sams Creek Missionary Baptist Church. She was married to Russell Byrd and to this union 2 children were born.

She leaves to cherish many loving memories: two daughters, Cynthia Chylene Byrd (Angela) and Tawanya Byrd (Terrence Smith), all of Metter, GA; her mother, Annie Liza Byrd, Metter, GA; one brother, Emmitt Byrd (Stephanie), Metter, GA; three sisters, Annie Lois Danzey (Ivie ), Columbia, AL; Reala Byrd, Linden, NJ; and Marilyn Smith (Larry), Metter, GA;  two grandchildren, Tyeasha Eason and Dean Eason III, both of Metter, GA; one great-grandson, Bricen Singleton, Metter, GA; two aunts, Nora V. Mills, Poinciana, FL; and Josephine Byrd, Metter, GA; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends.
