Sarah Louise (Harrison) Tyson

Mrs. Sarah Louise Harrison Tyson, was born on November 8, 1919 in Emanuel County, Georgia. She was one of nine children born to the late Joshua Harrison and Sarah Burroughs Harrison. All of her siblings preceded her in death.

Mrs. Tyson left Georgia at an early age and received her education in South Carolina.  She was the wife of the late Orie Tyson and they resided in Elizabethtown, North Carolina. She was employed at the Bladen County Hospital for many years and later worked with the Bladen County Extension Service until she retired. 

For more than fifty years she was a member of Mount Zion African Methodist Zion Church, Elizabethtown, North Carolina. She served faithfully until her health failed.  For the past four years she resided with her caregiver/niece, Melvie, in Metter, Georgia.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted niece, Melvie Boyd and her son, Anthony Boyd, several other  nieces, to include, Helen (James) Clark and Elizabeth McCoy all of Bennettsville, SC, Mary Robinson of Twin City, GA, Effie Johns of Metter, GA and Emma Corley of Miami, FL; one nephew, Nick Harrison of Columbia, SC; one sister-in-law, Louise Harrison of Wilmington, DE; a special friend, Maxine Jessup of Elizabethtown, NC, several great nieces, great nephews and loving friends.
