Sammie Lee Fann was born July 22, 1946 to Harley Lee Peoples and Vera Mae Joiner Peoples. She entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 11, 2021.
She was married to the late Jerry Fann, who preceded her in death.
She attended Lillian Street High School, Metter Georgia and was a member of the graduating class of 1964. She attended Indian River State College, Fort Pierce, Florida and obtained a LPN degree. She used her nursing skills to care for patients in a nursing home facility. She joined Mercer Grove Baptist Church at a young age and later became a member of Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church.
Sammie Lee was a caregiver by trade but also a caregiver to others. She was kindhearted and would give whatever she had to anyone in need. She loved family and spending time with family, but her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whatever they wanted or needed, they got. She was great in math and would help her grandchildren with their math homework. She also loved to cook before her health failed and did some cooking in a restaurant. She passed those skills on to her daughter Tomeka and often called her for a plate. Also, she was one of those friends or family members that you never knew what was going to come out of their mouth. Never put her on speaker. Her favorite pastime was watching Westerns on TV.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by a loving brother Hubert Peoples.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: two daughters, Dr. Beverly Johnson, Stuart, FL and Tomeka McNeely (Gregory), Metter, GA; two sons, Christopher Peoples, Stuart, FL and Romulus Fann, Metter, GA; two brothers, Ronnie Peoples (Shelia), Stuart, FL and Donnie Peoples (Ineaik), Metter, GA; two sisters in law, Mary Peoples, Stuart, FL, and Gail Fann, Twin City, GA; seven grandchildren, Derrell Fann, Nioshi Morris, Ricardo Fann, Kadeem Fann, Artavis Fann, Laporshia Fann and Adriania McNeely; seven great grandchildren, Tatiyana Fann, KyLeah Fann, Derielle Fann, Derionna Fann, Taylor Fann, Ni’Kirria Morris, and Nehemiah Morris; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
