Ruth Ellen was born and assigned to the parental stewardship of Eastman and Maxie Coney Parrish on December 29, 1937 in Candler County, Georgia. Reared to reverence God from the tender age of her youth, she accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and united with Mercer Grove Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully on the Usher Board for many years. She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Nelson Hobbs, Sr. and to this union seven children were born.
Ruth Ellen answered the loving call of her Lord to enter into His eternal presence on Thursday, December 1, 2022.
Preceding her deliverance from this earthly life are: her parents, Eastman Parrish and Maxie Coney Dunlap; stepfather, Henderson Dunlap, Sr.; and one brother, Curtis Parrish.
She leaves to cherish her memories; three daughters, Barbara Dekle, Augusta, GA, Lavern Hobbs and Tara Hobbs, Metter, GA; four sons, Nelson Hobbs, Jr, Curtis (Faye) Hobbs both of Statesboro, GA, Ricky Hobbs, Metter, GA, and Tony Hobbs, Augusta, GA; four sisters, Madie Harper and Delores Harden both of Metter, GA, Maxine Rutherford, Dunwoody, GA, and Della Blake, Killeen, TX; six brothers, Carl Parrish, Woodbridge, VA, Thomas (Linda) Dunlap, Miami, FL, Alfred (Dorothy) Dunlap, and Henderson (Jean) Dunlap, Jr both of Stockbridge, GA; Alton Dunlap, Hephzibah, GA, and Rev. Cecil (Linda) Dunlap, Edgefield, SC; fifteen grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and additional loving relatives and friends.
