Ruben Stine George, 60, affectionately known to many as Coach George, was born March 6, 1956 in Candler County, Georgia to the late Mr. Stine Paul "SP" George and the late Ms. Ruby Dell Hill. He departed this life peacefully on October 13, 2016 at the Westwood Nursing Center, Statesboro, Georgia.
He graduated from Metter High School in 1973. He was an avid athlete in high and college competing in football, basketball, baseball, and track. After receiving a B.S. Degree in Health and Physical Education from Fort Valley State “College” University, Ruben gained employment with the Candler County Board of Education. He taught health and physical education and coached track, basketball and football for several years in Candler County.
He is survived by his two uncles, Mr. William E. George, Jr. and Mr. Early Clark; two aunts, Mrs. Ruthie George and Mrs. Margret Louise Jackson; two god sisters, Felecia George Prince and Michele Green; step-sister, Mrs. Vernita Karell Winn (Rev. Richard Winn); step-brother: Attorney Pat D. Dixon, Jr., Esq. (Judge Myra Dixon) and a half-brother; several other uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
