Deacon Roosevelt Burke, Sr. was born on June 20, 1965, to the late Benjamin F. Burke Sr. and the late Ada Sapp Burke in Emanuel County, GA. On October 9, 2024, at the age of 59, he entered eternal rest after an extended illness.
In 1985, Deacon Burke graduated from Swainsboro High School, where he was a member of the varsity football team. He was a dedicated farmer for Patterson’s Farms for over 40 years. Even though he was an avid farmer he also took pride in being a pillar in his community and church. Wherever his help was needed he was there to lend a helping hand.
Deacon Burke became a member of Rountree Grove Baptist Church in Twin City, GA at the tender age of 8 years old, where he was baptized by the Honorable Reverend S.T. Bing. He served as a faithful member and deacon until the Lord called him home. His fellowship was unmatched.
Along with his parents, Deacon Burke was preceded in death by his brothers: Willie Lee Burke, Earlie Burke and Benjamin F. Burke Jr., sisters: Rosa Lee Young and Betty Ann Burke.
Deacon Burke leaves to cherish his loving memories: his devoted wife, Maranda Davis Burke; children, Cleveland (Monique) Scott of Midville, GA, Ricky Green of Dublin, GA, Antonio Scott of Atlanta, GA, Rose Marie (Kevin) Rountree of Statesboro, GA, Brandon Burke of Swainsboro, GA, Roosevelt Burke, Jr. and Rachel Burke of Atlanta, GA, Janae (Marvin) Randall of Wadley, GA and Miles Davis of Statesboro, GA; one god-daughter, Jasmine (Justin) Curry of Statesboro, GA; brothers, Jim F.
