Ronald Meridy

January 24, 1940 ~ May 31, 2015 (age 75) 75 Years Old


Deacon Ronald Meridy, son of the late Henry and Mae E. Meridy, was born January 24, 1940 in Candler County Georgia. He was one of eight children.

Deacon Ronald Meridy attended the Candler County Training School in Metter, Georgia. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Bonnie Ruth Byrd, December 12, 1964 in Metter, Georgia. He accepted the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at an early age in Georgia. 

In 1965, Deacon Meridy joined Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Glendale, Ohio.  As a member of Mt. Zion, Deacon Meridy was active in singing with the Gospel Chorus and the Male Chorus, as well as, serving on the Deacon Board and Hospitality committee. Deacon Meridy was a faithful and dedicated member for fifty years and loved serving the Lord.

Deacon Meridy began his employment with Stearns and Fosters when he arrived in Cincinnati. He was employed there for 28 years. After Stearns and Fosters had closed, he began working with the Princeton City School District. It was at Princeton that he retired after 13 years of service. The highlight of his experience with Princeton was mentoring students and spending Friday nights at the gate at the football games. In 2013, he was inducted into the Princeton Hall of Fame as a Life Time Achievement recipient.

He was preceded in death by two siblings, Earl McCray and Cecil Meridy.

He leaves his wife of 50 years, Bonnie (Byrd) Meridy; his five sons, Guy S. Meridy, Statesboro, GA, Ernie (Theresa) Byrd, West Palm Bay, FL, Ronnie Meridy, R. Craig (Loni) Meridy and Dwayne Meridy; two daughters, Rebecca Everett and Melinda (Ron) Fluker; eleven grandchildren, Kimberly Lancaster, Marcus Lancaster, Reneisha Byrd, (West Palm Bay, FL), Shaniece Byrd (West Palm Bay, FL), Bryce Fluker, Ariana Fluker, Trinity Meridy, Christian Meridy, Dominique Meridy, Statesboro, GA, Nicole Meridy, Statesboro, GA, Maurice Meridy, Statesboro, GA; seven great-grandchildren, one brother, Henry Virgil Meridy, Metter, Georgia; five sisters, Gloria (Neil) Doughman, Mildred Flannigan, Jessie (Billy) Jones, Metter, GA, Carol (William) Byrd, Metter, GA, and Ora Lee Matthews, Metter, GA; five brothers-in-law; four sisters-in-law; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. 

Thompson, Hall & Jordan Funeral Homes are in charge of final arrangements.
