Mr. Robert Calvin Matthews, 64, passed away peacefully in Metter, Georgia on Thursday, May 28, 2026.  He was born on September 1, 1961 to the late Mary Alma Walker Matthews and Willie Sylvester Matthews in Chicago, Illinois.  Robert was the youngest of five children: Camilla, Johnnie (who predeceased him), Barbara and William.  He was married to the former Deborah Brunson and they were the proud parents of one daughter, Daisha.

Robert spent many years working as a general manager for several restaurant chains and had a deep passion for culinary arts; always dreaming of one day owning his own restaurant.  He ended his career serving others at the Atlanta Mission Homeless Shelter in Atlanta, Georgia.  He also loved music and film, especially works created by Black artists.

Robert will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and the positive impact he made on everyone who knew him.
