Riller Cheley Byrd was born October 8, 1961, in Tattnall County, Georgia to the late Zoby Cheley and Carrie Davis Cheley. Riller departed this life into eternal life on March 15, 2024, at the Burn Care Center in Augusta, Georgia, with her daughters, Kaprisa and Keyona Byrd, by her side.
Riller attended Tattnall and Candler Counties public schools. She entered the workforce at an early age and was employed with Savannah Luggage, Vidalia, Georgia. Later, she worked in the clothing factories in Metter, was housekeeper in West Palm Beach, Florida, did janitorial work at Metter High School, then later in life, she started braiding hair.
She was loving and humble person. Riller would give you the shirt off her back to help anybody. She enjoyed playing cards for fun.
Riller was preceded in death by her loving and wonderful husband, Willie James Byrd; five sisters, Lizzie Mae Cheley, Effie Mae Cheley, Lizzie Maggie Cheley, Lula Mae Cheley, and her twin sister, Alice M. Cheley; and three brothers, Henry Cheley, Zoby Cheley, Jr., and Larry Cheley, Sr.
Riller leaves to cherish her memory with two daughters, Kaprisa (Yogi) Byrd and Keyona Byrd both of Metter, GA; one godson that she raised, Tyrell Edenfield, one goddaughter, Minister Alajean Hughes; six sisters, Beatrice Andrews, Collins, GA, Maggie Cheley, Mary Lou Scott (Bobby), Mary Joyce Henderson (Luther) and Carrie Cheley all of Metter, GA; three brothers, Johnny Cheley (Bessie), Cobbtown, GA, Willie Cheley, Metter, GA and Jimmie Cheley, Collins, GA; one half-sister, Josephine Lowes, Almo, GA; a special loving sister, Annie Petty, West Palm Beach, FL; and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, great nieces, great nephews and friends.
