Mr. Riley (Bill) Holloway, son of the late Fred and Myrtice Ellis Holloway was born April 20, 1933 in Candler County, Georgia. On October 23, 2016, he was called to eternal rest with the care of Ogeechee Hospice at his home in Metter, Georgia.
His early childhood education started at Byrd Junior School and later continued his education at William James Junior High School in Statesboro.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Mildred Brown and to this union four children were born. At an early age he joined Dixon Grove United Methodist Church and later moved to Mount Zion United Methodist Church, Pulaski Georgia where he became a Sunday School Teacher, Senior Steward, and on the Pastor Parish Relations Committee (PPR) committee. He farmed for many years while working housekeeping on the night shift at Georgia Southern College. He was later employed full-time at the Excelsior Electric Membership Corporation (EMC) where he retired as a Lineman after sixteen years of dedicated service. After that he was employed by the Candler County Public Works Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Myrtice Holloway; stepmother, Beulah Holloway; brother, William Paul Holloway; sister, Mary Helen Holloway; sister, Gladys Mincey, and step-sister Donnie Barker.
He is survived by his wife Mildred Holloway, Metter, GA; two daughters, Debra Sue Holloway and Yolette Holloway-Hankerson, both of Vidalia, GA two sons, Michael Holloway (Tama), Stone Mountain, GA and David Holloway, Metter, GA; one god daughter, Julia Boston (Harold), Metter, GA; one step-sister, Emma Dean Ross, Metter, GA; one aunt, Almeta Phillips, Metter, GA; two sisters-in-law, Lillie Jackson, Jersey City, NJ and Ruthie Mae Brown, Metter, GA; one brother-in-law, James Brown, Metter, GA; fifteen grandchildren; Darnell Stapleton, Antoine Byrd, Jasmine Byrd, Kendra Holloway, Keyondra Powell, Kendall Holloway, Fabian Holloway, Tyera Holloway, Michael C. Holloway, Dashon Holloway, Iesha Holloway, Payton “Todd” Lanier, Caleb Holloway, and Hillaree Hankerson; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
