On March 31, 2024, Raleigh Lee Nobles, Jr. made his transition at the age of 69. Born to the late Vera Jackson and Raleigh Lee Nobles, Sr., he was the eighth of nine children. In 1973, he graduated from Reidsville High School and enrolled in Georgia Military College where he graduated with an associate degree. He received a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Southern Technical Institute, and he earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Florida Institute of Technology.
His education did not end there. He was a lifelong learner in the field of study known as life. With his wisdom and knowledge, he mentored others by providing guidance, motivation, and emotional support. Raleigh was a great role model.
Raleigh was predeceased by his parents and five siblings: L. B. Futch, Mary Tomblin, Gwendolyn Towns, Carolyn Nelson, and Lloyd Nobles. He is survived by: his wife, Gewreka; daughters, Vera and Pamala; grandchildren, SaNaya, Kaito, Anina and Akane; and siblings, Frances McCray, the Rev. Brenda Brown, and Bennie Nobles.
Electricity ran through Raleigh’s veins. He was employed by utility companies in Florida and Georgia, and he rose through the ranks to become Vice President of System Operations for one of those companies. He ended his professional career as an energy consultant.
Raleigh was truly a country boy at heart. At the time of his death, he was turning his dream agricultural project – Brabant Farms, an orchard of pecan trees, a vineyard and winery – into a reality in Higgston, GA.
Raleigh will be remembered for his kind, gentle and generous spirit by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
