Mattie F. Brinson-Owens aka Ma-Mae was born on March 19, 1934 in Emanuel County Georgia to the late Claudie Brinson and the late Lula Turner. On March 23, 2016, at the Swainsboro Pruitt Home the Lord called her home peacefully.
Mattie graduated from Swainsboro High and Industrial School. She was a leader and inspiration to all that knew her. In her youth she was a talented athlete and enjoyed Dance and basketball. Mattie was wedded to Fletcher Owens on August 25, 1953. This union was blessed with five children; Faye, Debora, Fletcher Jr, Ty and Constantine.
Mattie found the Lord and was saved early in her life. She has served the Lord faithfully as an Usher, Sunday School Teacher, Missionary and Pastor for over fifty years. In her position as Pastor of the Holy Zion Church in Twin City she provided spiritual inspiration, guidance and advice with a touch of love.
Mattie was preceded in death by her husband; Fletcher Owens, Sr., eldest daughter, Faye A. Owens; two brothers Claudie Brinson and Frank Brinson and one sister, Lula Lee.
She leaves to cherish many fond and loving memories her children, Fletcher A. (Rita) Owens, Jr. of Swainsboro, Georgia, Ty Orr (Kim) Owens of Ashburn, Virginia, Constantine (Sharon) Owens of Dumfries, Virginia and Debora (Teddy) Peirce of Twin City, Georgia; one sister, Louise Young; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
