Mr. Oscar Thomas Carlyle Sr. was born on December 7, 1941, in Emanuel County, Georgia to Willie L. Carlyle and Bessie Gibbons Carlyle.
Oscar attended the public schools of Emanuel County. He did not complete his education because he had to work at Durden Farms to help support the family. He was also employed with Twin City Hall water department for 30 years and had a part time job with Emanual County Institute where he worked as a janitor. Oscar was baptized and became a member and deacon of Roundtree Grove Baptist Church in Twin City, GA.
Friends remember Oscar for his warmth, kindness, and unwavering spirit. He brought joy to those around him, creating lasting connections that will be fondly remembered. The void left by Oscar's departure is profound, but his legacy lives on through the lives he touched and the indelible mark he left on our hearts. May he rest in peace, and may his spirit continue to inspire and comfort us in the days ahead.
Oscar was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Willie C. Carlyle, Charles E. Carlyle, Sr., Lee Arthur Carlyle and one sister, Sarah Carlyle.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his loving wife of 54 years Hattie Berry Carlyle; one son, Oscar Thomas Carlyle Jr, Augusta, Georgia; two daughters, LaHazel Janice Farrow (Zeandrew Jr.), Fayetteville, NC; Melissia Carlyle, Swainsboro, GA; four brothers, James Carlyle, David Carlyle; Samuel Carlyle (Delores); all of Twin City, GA; Robert Carlyle (Gussie), Augusta, GA; six sisters, Janie Carlyle Parrish, Cathy Manley, Dorothy Brown, Carolyn Mosley, and Lourine Carlyle all of Twin City, GA; and Bettye Carlyle-Clark, Savannah, GA;.
