Mrs. Melvie Ellis Boyd (Teanie) was born on 19 Feb 1926 in Bulloch County, Georgia to the late Mr. John C. Ellis and Ms. Emma Jane Harrison Ellis.
At an early age, she joined St. Paul A.M.E. in Garfield, GA. where she attended church faithfully until she departed this life Nov 29, 2019. In 1942 she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Mr. Otto Boyd until his death. She attended Mercer Grove as a student and taught there as a teacher along with teaching at Dekle Branch School. She worked tirelessly with the local chapter of the NAACP. She employed at Boston Dry Cleaners for many years where she was a seamstress and presser. She retired early to take care of her ailing husband until his passing.
She is survived by her devoted son; Mr. Anthony (Gene) Boyd of Moncks Corner, South Carolina; one loving foster daughter, Almeta Peoples of Metter, Georgia; three special sisters, Mrs. Emma Lee Corley of Miami, Florida, Mrs. Mary G. Robinson of Garfield, Georgia, Mrs. Effie M. Johns of Metter, Georgia; one loving sister-in-law, Mrs. Sallie J. Ellis of Metter, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
