Melissa Ann Lewis

Ms. Melissa Ann Lewis was born January 23, 1972 in Metter, Georgia to Geraldine Lewis Hannah and James Whitfield.  Ms. Lewis entered into eternal rest on October 13, 2016.

Melissa  attended the public schools of Candler County, Georgia  and graduated from Metter High School in 1990.  During high school she was a member of the  Metter High School Girls Varsity Basketball Team.  

Melissa was a lifelong resident of Metter, Candler County, Georgia.  She was employed by the Candler County Board of Education as a custodian at Metter High School for over 15 years.

In the latter years of her life, Melissa’s  love and trust in Jesus Christ grew.  She found joy in worshipping Him and serving Him as a faithful member of True Worshippers Ministries Inc., Metter, GA.

Melissa was preceded in death by her father, one brother, James A. Whitfield  and one uncle, Cedrick Lewis.

 She leaves to cherish her memories: one son, Timothy Travett, Jr., two daughters, Kenyel Butler and Rikhia Butler all of Metter, GA;  her mother, Geraldine Hannah of Metter, GA; two sisters, Tori Whitfield and Lisa Whitfield both of Bridgeport, CT; four uncles,  Todd Donaldson of Metter, GA, Ricky Whitfield , Jerry Whitfield and Cornell Whitfield all of Statesboro,GA; four aunts, Bridgett Whitaker (Stacey) of Metter, GA, Mamie Humphries of Statesboro, GA, Gennell Jeller(Johnny) of Brooklet, GA and Carolyn Whitfield of Atlanta, GA; her godsister, Sondra Johnson (Bobby Joe) of Woodbridge, VA., several loving cousins and friends.
