Mary Ellen (Coney) Lanier

Mary Ellen Coney Lanier was born December 4, 1940 to Dave and Frankie Coney in Metter, Georgia. Mary transitioned from this earthly walk on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at Ogeechee Area Hospice in Statesboro, Georgia.

She attended school in Candler County, Georgia. After completing high school, she moved to New Jersey where she married Roosevelt Lanier. Mary was one of the founding members of Lebanon Baptist Church in Plainfield, New Jersey. She severed faithfully as the President of the Usher Board. She was employed by Continental Can for many years and worked as a Home Health Care Aide.

Mary enjoyed shopping, puzzles, cooking and reading, especially her Bible. She was a lover of dogs and had several throughout her lifetime.

Mary moved to Garfield, Georgia in 2005. She reinstated her membership at Mercer Grove Baptist Church where she became am active and faithful member.

Her transition was preceded by her husband, one son, Troy Lanier, parents, Dave and Frankie Coney, four sibling, James R. Coney, Freddie Coney, Lenard Coney, and William "Bill" Coney.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Stephen Coney and Matthew Lanier; one grandchild, Ta’ree Coney; two great grandchildren, Malachi Coney and Skye Coney; two sisters, Jennie R. Parrish and Avie L. Lanier; one brother, Dave Coney, Jr.; sisters-in-laws and a host of nieces, nephews.
