Lula J. Jenkins, the daughter of the late Emmett Sherod and Sine Mac Douglas, was born on March 15, 1940 in Metter Georgia. She fell asleep in death on March 3, 2024, after a lengthy illness with cancer. She resided in and around Candler and Tattnall County all her life. As a single mother and provider of her family, she worked for many residences in and around Metter, Collins and Reidsville, GA.
Lula dedicated her life to Jehovah and was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on July 3, 1976.As a dedicated and loyal servant of Jehovah, she had the privilege of having the Congregation Book Study in her home for many years.
Lula loved spending time with her family and friends and sharing in the field ministry. She loved flowers and their beauty and often spent many hours outdoors around her home planting and caring for them. She was a great mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt. More than anything, Lula loved learning about the Truth and through her avid studies of the Bible, it proved her love for Jehovah her God and for people. Even during her sickness, she had her unique personality and was a joy to the nurses who cared for her. During the last few weeks of her life, she reassured her family of her love for Jehovah and his love for her. We will miss her not only as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt but as our best friend until the end. We look forward to seeing her in the new world, healthy and pain free.
She was preceded in by death by her four sisters, Glenda Smith, Gene Sherd, Catherine Sherod, and Ella Mac James; two brothers, Willard Sherd and Marshall (MC) Sherd; three children, Jonathan Sherd, Catherine Sherd, and Stephen Jenkins; and one great grandson, Amari Jenkins.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one sister, Sine Mac Jackson of Claxton, GA; her children, Gloria Welcome (Joe) of Cobbtown, GA, Wilbert Sherd (Adrain) of Owings Mills, MD, Ronnie Jenkins of Odessa, TX, John Jenkins (Angela) of Cobbtown, GA, Charles Jenkins( Nicole Miller) of Eastover, SC, Lisa Jenkins of Collins, GA, and Teenresa Hilton-Jackson of Brunswick, GA; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews that will continue to cherish her in memory.
