Lottie Mae (Hastings) Summerlin

August 6, 1922 ~ July 2, 2015 (age 92) 92 Years Old


Lottie M. Hastings Summerlin was born August 6, 1922 in Metter, Georgia to the late Walter and Binner Grays Hastings. She was called to her heavenly home on Thursday, July 2, 2015.

Lottie, affectionately known as “Ma Doll”, joined Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church at an early age. She received her education in the public schools of Candler County, Georgia. Lottie was joined in Holy Matrimony to Fredrick Summerlin on March 31, 1961. Lottie worked for Charles and Jeanette Peterson for most of her life. She was a second mother to Cal, Alex, and Dave Peterson.

Lottie was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, Dorothy Hastings Johnson, four brothers, five sisters and a special niece, Bernice Byrd.

She leaves to cherish her loving memories; one son; Jimmie (Liz) Oglesby, Lauderhill, FL; one daughter, Tracey Summerlin, Atlanta, GA; seven children by marriage; Beatrice Byrd, Lendell Summerlin, both of Metter, GA; James L. Summerlin, Qula Booker and Valerie Clark all of Cincinnati, OH; Hank Summerlin, South Bend, IN; Thelma Griffin, Miami, FL; one daughter in law, Mary Summerlin, Metter, GA; one sister in law, Dorothy Hastings, Dayton, OH; twenty-nine grandchildren, a host of great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, a special granddaughter, Caron Pressley and special nephews and nieces of Hope Sound, FL.
