Josie (Knight) Brown

Josie Knight Brown was born on September 15, 1949 to the late C. W. and Gussie Lee Knight. Josie entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 1, 2020 after a brief illness at East Georgia Regional Medical Center at the age of 71. She was married to Leon Brown and resided in Metter, Georgia.  

She was educated in the Bulloch County School System, and also received her licensed cosmetology degree from Swainsboro Technical College.  Josie was also a very talented seamstress. She enjoyed baking and was always willing to help those in need.

Josie attended Hodges Grove Baptist Church in Statesboro, GA. Where she served as part of the Pastor’s Aide committee with a giving heart. 

She was preceded in death by her parents: C.W. and Gussie Lee Knight, three sisters, Sharlene Knight, Mercel Daniel, and Shirley Jones, one niece Willawna Jones, and one great nephew, Rashad Jones.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 44 years, Leon Brown of Metter, Georgia; daughter, Teresa Brown of Metter, Georgia; one son, Chris (Vanessa) Raiford of Lakeland, Florida; four grandchildren, Gabriele Brown, Serenity Brown both of Metter, Georgia, Chris Raiford, Jr., Anthony Raiford both of Lakeland, Florida;  three step grandchildren, Deja Bass, Kareem Alexander, Eva Alexander both of Lakeland, Florida; three sisters; Eva Nell (Homer) Williams, Mamie (Lonnie) Johnson both of Swainsboro, Georgia, Linda Gail (Cecil) Dunlap of Metter, Georgia; three brothers: Charlie (Diane) Knight of Claxton, Georgia, Vernon (Marilyn) Knight of Statesboro, Georgia, and Robert Knight of Swainsboro, Georgia; her mother-in-law, Alzatie Brown of Statesboro, Georgia; six sister-in-laws; Debra (Andrew) Sykes, Linda McRoy, Brenda Brown all of Statesboro, Georgia, Annie Marie Brown of Lawrenceville, Georgia, Sandra Lathan of Lakeland, Florida, and Brenda Bynum of South Bend, Indiana; three brother-in-laws, Nathaniel (Shirley) Brown of Savannah, Georgia, Terry (Faye) Brown of Powdersville, South Carolina, and Willie (Brenda) Jones of Twin City, Georgia and a host of nieces, nephews, family members, and friends.
