John Stewart Parker was born on February 8, 1952 at Bulloch County Hospital in Statesboro, GA to John Grady Parker and Mattie Lou Kirkland Parker.
Stewart graduated high school in 1970. Although he was moved to Portal High School for his senior year because of desegregation, his heart remained with his classmates from William James High School with whom he began his educational journey in elementary school. He LOVED his classmates, and they loved him.
He was a member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
After retiring from Ford Motor Company in 2007, Stewart began attending East Georgia State College where he graduated in 2008 with an Associate of Arts degree in Agriculture. He then began working as a manager at the University of Georgia Bamboo Farms until retirement. Stewart never gave up his love for farming and agriculture and continued to work the family farm as long as his health permitted.
Stewart’s pride and joy was his family. There was nothing more important to him than spending quality time with his children and grandchildren, exposing them to different subjects, cultivating their educational experiences, imparting wisdom, and being present for their activities and milestones. He will also be remembered for being a great friend and maintaining lifelong friendships.
Stewart made his transition on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, GA.
Stewart leaves to cherish his loving wife, Ginger Parker; daughter, Angela “Pinky” Parker, Marietta, GA; son, John Francis “Frankie” Parker, Covington, GA; stepdaughter, Nicole (Stephen) Jackson, Washington, DC; three grandsons, Chad, Camden, John Asher “Jack”, and two granddaughters, Ansley “Lucybelle” and Addeline; sister and brother-in-law, Connie (Edward Earl) Overton, Statesboro, GA; sister, Johnnie Mae Parker Wilkerson, West Palm Beach, FL; nieces, Shaunte’ Overton (James) Hardy; Alicia Overton (Andrew) LaTour, Arlington, TX; nephew, Correy Overton; uncle, James (Ruth) Pryor, Jr., East Point, GA.
