Bro. John Wesley Brown, Jr. was born September 25, 1945, to the late Deacon John Wesley Brown, Sr., and the late Mrs. Ernestine A. Johnson, in Tampa Florida.

“Champ”, as he was so fondly called by his father, was the oldest child of 16 children between his parents. John was a 1964 graduate of Marshall High School in Plant City, FL. He served in the United States Army and spent time in Vietnam and Germany.

Brother John was a proud member of Macedonia M.B. Church, Eatonville, FL, where Reverend Willie C. Barnes is the pastor. He later moved to Metter, Georgia and joined St. Luke Independent Church, where Reverend Kenneth Jordan is the pastor. He was a proud member until his passing.

Bro. John was married to Gwendolyn Brannen of Metter, Georgia on February 13, 2015.

On Monday, December 20, 2021, at his home, God’s angel came and took John home. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.

At this sad time, Brother John leaves to mourn his passing, a loving and devoted wife: Gwendolyn Brown; two daughters, Tammy Lynn Brown, Fayetteville, NC and Nicole Brannen, Metter, GA; four sons, Michael Nelson, Anthony Brannen, Maurice Brannen, and Brian Brannen all of Metter, GA; seven sisters, Anita (Eddie) Harris, Plant City, FL, Bernice (Jimmy) Cunningham, Atlanta, GA, Patricia Turner, Gainesville, FL, Matilda (Elmore) Erving, Lakeland, FL, Audrey (Kim) Brown and Elnora Brown both of , Miami, FL, Diana (Kenny) Gillion, Orlando, FL; five brothers, Jerome (Julie) Brown, Jacksonville, FL, Elder Xavier (Ophelia) Brown, Florida City, FL, Daniel Brown, Bushnell, FL, Cavins (Dawn) Johnson, Winter Garden, FL; two stepmothers, Mattie Pearson, Gainsville, FL and Pastor Edith Langston, Plant City, FL; two god sisters, Gwendolyn Barnes, Plant City, FL and Lisa Hale, Tampa, FL;  special cousins, Mr. & Mrs. Freddie Jones, Deacon & Mrs. Henry Johnson, Evangelist Claudia Broadnax, Evangelist Betty Green, Ms. Betty Jones, Mrs. Ethel Fleming, Mr. Jethro Green and Mr. James Smith; adopted sisters and brothers, Mrs. Jonnye Charlow Butler and the Charlow Funeral Home Staff, Mrs. Lundia Frazier and Mr. James Charlow, Jr.; five sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, two grandsons, four granddaughters and a host of nephews, nieces, friends and his church family.
