Mrs. Janie Lou Parrish was born August 9, 1939 in Twin City, Georgia to Mr. Willie L. Carlyle and Mrs. Bessie Gibbons Carlyle. She attended the public schools of Emanuel County, Georgia and from a young age she displayed a caring spirit and a kind and joyful heart. She was a member of Rountree Grove Baptist Church in Twin City.
Janie dedicated her life to supporting and providing for her family. She spent many years working as a personal caregiver, faithfully managing household responsibilities, especially cooking large meals, and assisting families with their daily essential needs.
More than anything, Janie was devoted to her family and friends. She cherished her relationships and she was a source of strength, laughter and unwavering support to those who needed her. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Parrish, Sr.; her daughters, Terri Branch and Margo Carlyle; one son, Royjo Carlyle; five brothers, W.C., Charles, Sr., James, Oscar, and Lee Arthur Carlyle; and one sister, Sarah Carlyle.
She is survived by: two sons, Leon Parrish, Jr. (Willette) of Clarksville, TN and Melvin Parrish of Twin City, GA; three brothers, Rev. Samuel Carlyle (Delores), Deacon David Carlyle (Gladys) of Twin City, GA and Rev. Robert Carlyle (Gussie) of Augusta, GA; three sisters, Kathy Manley and Dorothy Brown both of Twin City, GA and Betty Clarke of Savannah, GA; ten grandchildren: Whitley, Jakevia, Johnny, Jr., Michael, LeAndra, Brittany, Lashawn, Jamyra, Shakira and Kiana; a host of loving great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.
