Mrs. Gwendolyn Ann Brown was born July 25, 1946, to Mr. Luther Nelson and Ms. Pearl Brinson in Metter, Georgia. She attended the public schools of Candler County, Georgia and was a 1965 graduate of Lillian Street High School, Metter, Georgia. She was a member of the former St. Luke A.M.E. Church, Metter, Georgia, under the leadership of Reverend Aaron Foster.
Gwendolyn was married to the late Mr. Woodrow Brannen in 1972 and to this union four children were born. After fifty years, Gwendolyn reunited with her first love, Mr. John Wesley Brown and they were joined into holy matrimony on February 13, 2015. She moved to Orlando, Florida and joined Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church under Reverend Willie Barnes. Later, Gwendolyn moved back to Metter, Georgia and rejoined her home church, St. Luke Independent Methodist Church under the leadership of Reverend Kenneth Jordan. She was a faithful member until her passing.
After a short illness, Mrs. Gwendolyn Ann Brown passed away at home on Monday, April 11, 2022. Along with her husband, Woodrow, she is also preceded in death by her husband, John, her parents, and two brothers; Henry Mincey, Jr. and Robert Mincey.
At this sad time, Gwendolyn leaves to mourn her passing; one daughter, Nicole Brannen; four sons, Michael (Roberta) Nelson, Maurice (Krystal) Brannen, Anthony Brannen, and Brian Brannen; three stepdaughters, Tammy Lynn Brown, Patricia Brannen, and Janice Brannen; one brother, Stanley Mincey; three sisters, Maudie (Wallace) Byrd, Judy (Harold) Johnson, and Sharon Barlow; five grandchildren, eight sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, one best friend as a sister, Minister Annie Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews to include a special nephew, LaRael Owens, her Macedonia Church Family, and friends.
