Gil Daughtry

Gil Daughtry was born June 28, 1954 in Jacksonville, Florida to Mamie Lou Brown. He departed this life on April 9, 2017 at United Medical Center in Washington D.C..

Gil spent his formative years in and around Candler County and Emanuel County, Georgia. He relocated to Northern Virginia over thirty five years ago. He gained employment with the Miller and Long Construction Company, where he worked for several years.  He was later employed with the Safeway Food Stores. His last place of employment was with The Dollar Tree Stores at a location in Temple Hills, Maryland.  Gil was noted for being a very dedicated and conscientious worker, never missing a day of work .Gil was a faithful member of Community of Hope A.M.E. Church in Hillcrest Heights, Maryland under the leadership of Rev. Warren Wells.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one grandson, Montelle Daughtry.  He leaves to cherish his memory: three sons, Gilbert Daughtry (Alice) of Garfield, GA, Tavares Daughtry (Jackie) of Twin City,GA and Antonio Daughtry (Madeline) of New York, New York;  one brother, Howard L. Brown of Twin City, GA; four sisters, Mary M. Smith (Larry) of Twin City, GA, Martha Mack of Swainsboro, GA, Annie Lee Brown (John) of Metter, GA and Rosa Lee Brown of Wadley, GA; one uncle, Noel Mack of Twin City, GA; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
