Flora George Waters was born on August 27, 1960, to Mary Evelyn George and the late Floyd George, Jr. She attended the public schools Candler County, Georgia and graduated from Metter High School in 1978. Flora worked at Sportswear Manufacturing in Swainsboro, Georgia before gaining employment at Viracon Inc. in Statesboro, Georgia. She retired from Viracon after 20 plus years of employment. During her tenure there, she made many friends and formed lasting relationships.
Flora was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church of Stillmore, Georgia, where she was head usher, faithfully serving every Sunday. She loved fishing, eating, traveling, and gaming, but her greatest love was God, whom she served daily.
Flora departed this life on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at East Georgia Regional Medical Center, Statesboro, Georgia, after an extended illness. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Latarsha Lanier and her grandson, Eric (E.J.) Foreman. She loved and missed them dearly. Also preceding her in death were her siblings, Cynthia Kennedy and Martha Roper.
Flora leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted son, Jamar L. Webb; her loving mother, Mary Evelyn George; five siblings, Mary George Flowers (Freddie), Atlanta, GA, Nina George Posley, Augusta, GA, Floyd George III (Donna), LaGrange, GA, Tracy George and Tammie George Hughes (Larry) both of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, LaMarcus, Lazaria, Kihanna, and Tyler, and a host of uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
The Staff of Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to support and serve the George and Waters families with Dignity, Respect and Integrity.
