Mr. Ernest Coppock was born April 16, 1944 in Bryan County, Georgia to Mr. Huey Willie Coppock and Mrs. Jennie Bryant Coppock. He entered into eternal rest on April 2, 2026. He resided in Pembroke, Georgia for most of his life, leaving only for the last six years of his life to live in Atlanta, Georgia to be cared for by family there.
For twenty-seven years he was employed by Georgia Public Broadcasting at WVAN in Pembroke. Because of his excellent work ethic, he continued to advance in his duties and responsibilities at the television station. He thoroughly enjoyed his job. He also loves to go fishing and he was an avid gardener. Mr. Ernest was a genuinely caring person. Although he never fathered a child, he cared deeply for the welfare of the children and families in his community. He always did what he could to provide assistance when he saw a need.
He was married to the former Clotile Hammond. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2026.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife' son, Leroy Smith of Glennville, GA and his children; one sister-in-law, Albertha M. Coppock of Atlanta, GA; a host of honorary family members, loving nephews and nieces.
The Staff of Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to support and serve the Coppock family with Dignity, Respect and Integrity.
