Emmit Wilkerson, Jr. was born on September 7, 1958, in Metter, Georgia to Emmit Wilkerson, Sr. and Beola Henry Wilkerson. He entered eternal rest on Thursday, February 20, 2025, in Macon, Georgia. At an early age, he attended Sams Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Emmit, Jr. was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Maggie (Parrish) Henry and Earnest Henry; paternal grandparents, Realia (Culbreath) Wilkerson and Shepherd Wilkerson; brother and sisters; Claude Wilkerson, Virginia Wilkerson Mincey, Nellie Wilkerson Hart, and Susie Wilkerson Collins.
He was a humble person with a gentle soul and willing heart. Emmit, Jr. loved his family and he loved having fun. He was mechanically inclined and had the natural ability to repair anything with his hands.
Emmit, Jr. attended the public schools of Candler County. He worked at King Finishing in Sylvania, Crider’s Poultry in Stillmore, and Greene Grocery in Metter.
He leaves to cherish fond memories by his three brothers; Edward Wilkerson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, Ray C. Wilkerson of Statesboro, and Wallace Wilkerson of Macon; four sisters, Maggie Wilkerson and April Wilkerson of Macon, Sherry Parra and Charlene Wilkerson of Metter; one sister-in-law, Jewel Wilkerson of Pooler; two aunts, Mildred H. Grant and Amy W. Henry of Metter; one great-aunt, Mary Alice Ellis of Metter; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
