Mrs. Ella Mae James, 84, of Reidsville, died Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at East Georgia Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. She was born in Metter, Georgia on August 23, 1936 to the late Emmett Sherod and Sine Mae Douglas.
Throughout her life she worked diligently at whatever her hands found to do. Over several years she worked at Roydon Wear in Reidsville, Crider Foods of Stillmore and Westside Foods in Cobbtown. She enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
Ella was preceded in death by her husband, Leon James; three sisters, Glenda Smith, Gene Sherd and Catherine Sherod; two brothers, Willard Sherd and Marshall (MC) Sherd.
She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Felicia Madison (Robert) of Reidsville; one son, Howard Conyers, Jr. (Kwuntina) of Atlanta; two sisters, Sine Mae Jackson of Claxton and Lula Jo Jenkins of Cobbtown; her grandchildren, Paul Walden of Collins, Jazmine Moore (Ty’Shean) of Ft. Meade, MD, Davante Conyers and Wanquilla Anthony (Robert) all of Atlanta; her step-grandchildren, Kayla and Tyrese Madison of Mt. Vernon and Jayden Madison of Richmond Hill; great grandchildren, Ty’Shean , Jr. and Ty’Anna Moore; a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 28, 2020 at Steep Hill Church Cemetery in Cobbtown. The children of Mrs. James will receive family and friends at the home of Felicia and Robert (Plug) Madison at 3:00 p.m., Friday after the service. For directions please call Felicia.
