Edward Parrish, Jr. entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at Ogeechee Area Hospice. He was born to the late Edward Parrish, Sr. and the late Widder Lee Hendrix Parrish on September 7, 1944 in Candler County (Metter), Georgia. He was also cared for by his late stepmother, Mary Jones Parrish (Register, GA) after a second marriage.
Edward joined Mt. Zion United Methodist Church at a very early age. He attended Byrd Jr. High School through seventh grade until symptoms of muscular dystrophy prevailed. Edward also enrolled at High Hope Center (Statesboro, GA) and demonstrated his skills as an illustrator/artist for more than 30 years. He won numerous 1st place awards at the Ogeechee Fair.
Edward is preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Kent Parrish.
Edward leaves to cherish many loving and precious memories four sisters; Joyce Marie Parrish (Metter, GA) primary caregiver; Sarah Phillips, Metter, GA; Betty Gail Barlow, Statesboro, GA; and Bonnie Jean Hendley, Orlando, FL.; three brothers; Lonnie Glynn Parrish (Mildred) Detroit, Mich.; Kenneth Parrish, Statesboro, GA, and John Wesley Parrish, Statesboro, GA.; two nieces and one nephew whom he helped raise Charlotte Parrish-Woody(Curtis), Statesboro, GA; Inez Oglesby (Wiley, Sr.) Statesboro, GA; and Rodney Parrish, Metter, GA (caregiver); five aunts to include Lottie Parrish (Long Island, N.Y.), Clestine Peoples, Metter, GA; Robbie Faye Parrish, Orlando, FL; Jewel Young (Statesboro, GA); and Lucille Bradley, New Jersey; a host of nieces and nephews. Special recognition goes to several home health care givers, to include: Mary Ellis, Mary Canty, Anthony Ricks, and Jessica Dekle.
