Deacon Eddie James Brown was born February 18, 1926 in Washington County, Georgia to the late Mr. Edrick Brown and the late Mrs. Mattie Beasley Brown. He attended the public schools of Washington County.
He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged from the Army in April of 1955.
Deacon Brown made his home in Savannah, Georgia. He was employed by the City of Savannah in the water works department.
On January 13, 1983, he married the former Ruby Sykes Pierce. He was a member of the Bolton Street Baptist Church where he served on the deacon board and sang with the choir.
Deacon Brown was preceded in death by seven siblings, Ester Mae Brown, Corine B. Parker,Inez B. Clark, Jesse Brown, John W. Brown, Willie J. Brown and Grant Brown; two step sons, Robert D. Pierce and Roscoe Pierce.
He leaves to cherish fond memories, his wife, Ruby P. Brown of Savannah, GA; one son, Eddie Charles Brown of Savannah, GA; one step son, Lamar Pierce of Savannah, GA; one step daughter, Caroline P. Lee of Augusta, GA; several nieces and nephews whom he cherished, other relatives and friends.
