Earl James

Mr. Earl James was born to the late Jeff and Lucille Henry James on August 28, 1949.  He attended public schools in Candler County and Tattnall County.

He and his family attended church at Collins Church of God in Collins, GA and later attended Adabell Church of God in Register, GA.  Some of his favorite past times were farming, working on cars and spending time with his family and friends.  One of his favorite sayings was “I’m going to the house to eat me some rice.”  In addition, he was a great cook and enjoyed spending time in the kitchen.

He was preceded in death by his siblings Willie James, Barney James, Doris Mosley, Annie Ruth James and Grace James Wilkerson.  Also preceding him in death was his special companion of over twenty years, Viola Collins Taylor.

He leaves to cherish his memory, four daughters, Kelly Collins, Stephanie Collins, Ieshia Collins and LaToya Vereen (Ron) of Metter, GA; one son Nicholas Collins of Alexandria, VA; twelve grandchildren Andre Mikell Jr., Kaylee Collins, Jameya Smart, Jimmy Smart Jr.,  Jamie Smart, Jadah Smart, Jayden Smart, Kashmerriah Collins, Tameria Vereen, Keyshaun Vereen, Teneshia Vereen and Kyron Vereen; three sisters, Gladys James and Luretha Mosley both of Metter, GA, and Helen Dukes of Ellabell, GA; two brothers-in-law, Brazil Mosley and Willie Gene Wilkerson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
