Deacon Perry Henry Davis, Sr., was born on January 9, 1941, to the late Henry Davis and former Ruthie Mae Slaughter in Claxton, Georgia. Perry, the third oldest of twelve children was educated in the Tattnall County Public School System but left early to help with the family sharecropping.
His work ethic and desire to take care of his family led him to employment with Claxton Poultry, the Candler Country Hospital, and Cal-Maine Egg Farms. Perry finished his career and retired from Excelsior Electric Membership (EMC) of Metter, Georgia after 26 years of dedicated service.
Perry was united in Holy Matrimony to the former Elizabeth Ann Roberson on January 12, 1980, in Metter, Georgia. He became an active member of Thankful Missionary Baptist Church where he served as the President of the Usher Board. By God’s grace and having demonstrated a profound commitment to serve the Lord, on January 17, 1993, Perry was ordained to the Ministry of Deacons where he continued to worship and serve faithfully.
Perry loved watching his westerns and detailing his vehicles, but most of all he loved his family.
Perry was preceded in death by one son, Perry (Scooter) Henry Davis Jr. and one daughter, Sherry Davis; four brothers, John Daniel Sr, Jimmy, James, Edward Charles (E.C.); and five sisters, Clara Bell McCoy, Mary Davis, Marion Collins, Bonnie Berry, and Thelma Davis.
