Danny L. Parrish, affectionately known as “Muscle Head”, was born on October 24, 1953, to Lester Toya Parrish, Jr. and Ruby Lee Andrews Parrish. After a short illness, God called him to glory on Saturday, December 14, 2024.
His formative education began in Candler County, Georgia at Lillian Street School and his secondary education was completed at Metter High School. While attending MHS, he was active on several athletic teams including track, basketball, baseball, and football. Danny was a member of the graduating class of 1971. While very athletic and versatile, his football skills earned him walk-on positions at Albany State College and Savannah State College.
Danny was employed at Brooks Instrument Division, formally known as Brooks Emerson. During his time at Brooks, he was a Computerized Numerical Control (CNC) machinist, creating high-precision components for flow meter manufacturers. After his employment with Brooks, Danny continued his work as a machinist at the establishment of Billy Joe Shaw.
Danny’s second career began in Forsyth, Georgia at the Truck Driver Institute. It was there he received his Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). After receiving his CDL, Danny was able to fulfill his desire to see the country by driving the open road. When Danny stopped driving trucks, he found employment with the Candler County Board of Education as a school bus driver.
Danny was married to Cenella (Collins) Parrish. Through this union there was born one child, Laurinda Parrish. Preceding him in death are his parents and a sister, Rita Joe Parrish.
Danny’s quick wit and thunderous laugh will be especially missed by his daughter, Laurinda Parrish; his siblings, Sondrell F. Rouse (Spurgeon), Lester “Cowboy” Parrish, Ronald Parrish, Gloria Parrish, Wanda Parrish, Reginald Parrish (Cristy), and Wynne’ Parrish; his niece and nephews; Victor Parrish, Kevin Oglesby, Anthony Parrish (Nicole), Spurgeon Rouse, III (Tamesha), Jauron Parrish, Jarrett Parrish, and Ciaira Parrish and the many aunts, uncles, cousins, great nieces, great nephews, bonus grandchildren, along with his extended family siblings, the Whitakers; John Thomas, Susan, Jessie, Connie, Stacy, Beverly and Keith, a special aunt, Josephine C Parrish and friends who loved him.
