Clara Mae (Wilcher) Walker

Clara Mae Walker was born on July 12, 1949 to Orlando Wilcher and Nita Bell Johnson. Clara entered eternal rest on the morning of November 10, 2020 after a brief illness at Augusta University at the age of 71. She was married to Charles Walker and resided in Metter, Georgia.

She was educated in the Candler County School System and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Savannah State College (University). Clara was a retired teacher. She enjoyed educating children, spending time with her family and serving at her church. Clara was a member of St. Matthew Missionary Baptist Church where she served as a secretary, choir, and Mission Board member.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Walker and parents, Orlando and Nita Bell Wilcher.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Charles (Adrian) Walker of Swainsboro, Georgia; two daughter, Cerea (Dwayne) Jerideau of Irmo, South Carolina and Sharon Johnson of Richmond, Virginia; ten grandchildren, Brandon Walker of Claxton, Georgia; Justin Walker, Taylur Wiggins, both of Metter, Georgia; Haley Walker, Ken Harris, Tatianna Settles, Allen Settles, I'Mani Settles, all of Swainsboro, Georgia; Noah Jerideau, Seth Jerideau, both of Irmo, South Carolina; a special cousin, Mandrus Wilcher, of Hobe Sound, Florida and a host of family members and friends. 

The Staff of Whitaker Funeral Home is honored to support and serve the Walker family with Dignity, Respect, and Integrity.
