Clara Mae Freeman Booker was born in Metter, Georgia on September 3, 1944, to the late Sylvester Freeman and Luell Knight. She attended the public schools of Candler County and resided in Metter all her life.
Clara Mae was married to James Lee Booker. To this union, two children were born. For many years, she was employed at Crider’s Poultry in Stillmore, Georgia.
Later in life, she became a member of Holy Zion Holiness Church, under the leadership of Pastor Johnny Ray Jones. She served faithfully as an usher. At that point in her life, she became a great encourager of others during their time of bereavement. She would often stand to make comments and offer a prayer for the families.
Along with her parents, Clara Mae is preceded in death by her husband.
She leaves many fond memories: two daughters, Hannah Booker and Sandy Booker both of Metter, GA; one grandson, Shameck Booker, Metter, GA; one granddaughter, Denise Booker, Baxley, GA; one brother-in-law, Clarence Booker, Metter, GA; three sisters-in-law, Mamie Lou Grant, Sandersville, GA, Qular Mae Booker, Cincinnati, OH and Della Booker, South Bend, IN; many other relatives and friends.
