Mrs. Catherine Collins – Jones was born on August 11, 1946 to Willie “Lent” and Cassie Roberson in Metter, Georgia. On July 5, 2024, she answered God’s call at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation in Metter, GA.
Catherine, fondly call “Cat”, attended the Tattnall Industrial High School in Reidsville, GA. At an early age, she joined Steep Hill Missionary Baptist Church and sang in the church choir. With Cat’s pleasant and nurturing personality, she cared for the sick and shut-in through home healthcare agencies for many years.
On December 8, 2001, Catherine was joined in holy matrimony to Rev. Frank Jones. After their marriage, she joined him in attendance and service at the Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist, Walthourville, GA. Her husband will forever cherish the precious memories of their 22 years of life together.
She was preceded in death by one son, John Collins; her parents; two sisters, Mary Sue Byrd and Rossie “Rose” Roberson; one brother, Willie Roberson and one stepson, Frank Jones, Jr.
She leaves to cherish many memories: her husband, Rev. Frank Jones of Hinesville, GA; four children, Kathleen Collins, Cobbtown, GA, Joe Collins, Claxton, GA, Janice Hampton (James), Augusta, GA, and Madge Collins, Glenwood, GA; her granddaughter whom she raised, Tyronda Collins; two stepchildren, Kimberly Dowdell (James) and Carolyn Jones both of Midway, GA; three sisters, Betty Roberson, Providence, RI, Teresa Branch, Savannah, GA, and Barbara Cannon, Lithonia, GA; one brother-in-law, John Jones (Arease), Columbus, GA; two sisters-in-law, Margaret Strickland and Shannon Tippins (Derrick) both of Hinesville, GA; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
