Mr. Calvin Bethea was born on August 23, 1957, to the late Allene D. Roberson and Levern Bethea in Miami, Florida. He departed for his eternal home on Saturday, December 21, 2024, after an extended illness.
He was raised in Stillmore, Georgia by his mother and several loving aunts. He attended the public schools of Emanuel County. He later met and married the former Per Cynthia “Kay” Andrews and to this union two children were born, Tony and Shameka.
Calvin was an avid truck driver and drove for over 20 years before retirement. He absolutely loved fishing and could be found wading in ponds all over Stillmore and beyond. Calvin was an exceptional cook. Those near and dear to him always enjoyed his fish, chicken, and anything he prepared on the grill.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Allene D. Roberson; brother, Lamar Schubert Childs; and sister, Bernestine Bethea.
Calvin is survived by his wife, Per Cynthia “Kay” Bethea of Swainsboro, GA; two daughters, Shameka Bethea of Swainsboro, GA and LaDesha (Eric) Hooks of Reidsville, GA; four sons, Dominique (India) Mincey of Augusta, GA, Tony Bethea of Swainsboro, GA, Gary (Mone´t) Brooks of Ellenwood, GA and Antonio Coney of Metter, GA; one brother, Stevie (Stephanie) Roberson of Swainsboro, GA; one sister-in-law, Marilyn “Kitty” Lewis of Dublin, GA; sixteen (16) grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
