Betty J. (Artis) Brown

Betty Artis Brown was born February 22,1946 in Metter, Georgia to James Artis, Sr. and Naomi Williams Artis. She fell asleep in death on Sunday, April 10, 2022, after a short-term illness.

Betty’s natural love for people was evident in her secular jobs where she was engaged with families, children, and adults.  She began work at a very young age with the intentions to support her family in field work. She continued her work in a fiber glass factory, private home cleaning, health care facilities as a healthcare worker, custodial work in healthcare facilities, and retired as a custodian with Candler County Schools System. Betty was known for her special love for people always taking care of others in need. She enjoyed preparing meals for her loved ones and friends. 

She was baptized in June 15, 1964 as a Jehovah Witness and enjoyed participating in teaching others about Jehovah’s promises.

She leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, Razzell Brown, Sr of Metter, Georgia; her children, Linda (Arnell) Porter of Claxton, Georgia,  Daniel Artis, of Metter, Georgia, Razzell (Kim) Brown, Jr of Thomson, Georgia, Debra (James) Dekle of Metter, Georgia, Stanley Brown of Brunswick, Georgia, Kurt Brown of Pooler, Georgia, and Lakeisha Brown of Metter, Georgia; one brother, James Artis, Jr of Metter, Georgia; two sisters, Mattie Artis and Lillie Artis both of Metter, Georgia; her pride and joy her grandchildren:  Arnell (Nikenya) Porter, Jr; Montez Porter; Tariq Dekle; James Dekle, Jr; Stanley Brown, Jr; Javonte Dekle; Demaurey Dekle, and Niyasia Brown, several great grandchildren, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

She will be dearly missed. The family will receive guest at respected homes.
