Baron Keith Shanklin, Jr., 34 years of age, passed away on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, in Augusta, Georgia.
Keith was born May 15, 1989, in Fairbanks, Alaska to Paige Jones-Cole and Baron Shanklin, Sr. He was the oldest of two children. Keith graduated from Vidalia High School. He joined the United States Air Force August of 2009 and worked as a Fuels Journeyman for three years. During his military tenure he received the Air Force (AF) Achievement Medal, AF Outstanding Unit Award, AF Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and AF Training Ribbon. He was honorably discharged from the Air Force in May of 2013.
Keith married the former Dinitra Boykin in 2010. They were blessed with two beautiful children, Jaylen and Myrakle Shanklin.
Over his lifetime, Keith resided several places, Georgia, South Carolina, Alaska, Texas and Germany, where he made friends which became like family. Keith cherished his family and friends. Acquiring sneakers (Jordans) and playing basketball were two of his greatest joys in life. He was a loving and caring person, devoted husband, father, son, brother, cousin, and friend- always thinking of others. “To know him was to love him.”
Keith was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Mary Helen Jones and special aunt, Linda Day.
Keith leaves to cherish loving memories: his wife, Dinitra Shanklin of Vidalia, GA; one son, Jaylen Shanklin and one daughter, Myrakle Shanklin both of Vidalia GA; his mother, Paige Jones-Cole (Ron) of Vidalia GA; his father, Baron Shanklin, Sr. of Greenville, MS; one sister, Krystale Hudgeon of Vidalia, GA; two aunts: Judy Jones of Charleston, SC; Twangia Jones of Dublin, GA; three uncles, Shawn Day (Samantha) of Soperton, GA, Clayton Jones and Clinton Jones both of Atlanta, GA ; many other loving family members and friends whose lives he touched.
