Wanda Faye Hobbs Whitaker was born August 20, 1957 to Coley A. Hobbs and Tera Donaldson Hobbs. She passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 following an extended illness.
Wanda attended school in Candler County and graduated from Metter High School in 1975. She went on to obtain her Associates Degree in Dietary Science from Emanuel County Junior College (ECJC). Wanda worked most of her career in Nutritional and Food Services and retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections in August 2017. Wanda was a member of Lakeside First Baptist Church Metter, GA.
Wanda loved her family, cooking for all holidays and family gatherings and caring for others. Most of all she loved being "THE BOSS". She was proceeded in death by her father Coley A. Hobbs and her sister Ethel Mae Hall.
Wanda leaves to cherish fond memories: her husband, John "Tommy" Whitaker; one son Bryan (Bernadette) Collins of Athens, GA; two step-daughters, Kelli Whitaker of Atlanta, GA and Alexis Whitaker of Statesboro, GA; mother, Tera Hobbs of Metter, GA; four brothers, Frederick (Jeanette) Donaldson of Miami, FL, Andre (Susan) Donaldson and Alton Hobbs both of Metter, GA, and Craig (Angela) Hobbs of Brunswick, GA; one sister, Kathy Hobbs of Metter, GA; grandchildren, Bryan (Aaliyah) Collins, Daoiante Collins, Brandon Byrd, Jasmine Bell; special nieces and nephew, Loretta (Dennis) Smith, Collis "Fuzzy" Brown, Daysha West; one godson, Adrian Hobbs; special aunt, Alma Griffin; best friends, Debra Bell and Imogene Sutton; 02 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
