A longtime resident of Miami, Florida received her glory wings to be with the Lord on January 6, 2018 surrounded by loving family members.
Sadie committed her life to Christ and service at a very young age. She served on the usher board, sang in the choir, and participated in Sunday school activities at First Baptist Church of Metter, Georgia.
Sadie Ruth Williams was born in Pulaski, Georgia on June 30, 1935 to Willie Parrish and Ruthie Williams. She attended Byrd Junior High School where she was a member of the track and basketball teams. Sadie Ruth Williams married the late Elmo Bennett and moved to Miami, Florida to start a new life. Upon enrolling in Lindsey Hopkins Technical Educational Center, Sadie received her GED and other accomplishments which propelled her into a career as a Rehabilitation Technician, at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. In 1997, she retired from a job that she loved.
She enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, and singing in the choir at First Baptist Church of Brownsville in Miami, Florida. She was a dedicated Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Freewill Chapter 257 for more than 20 years in the state of Florida.
Sadie’s parents, Ollie and Ruthie Smith, raised and nurtured her to be a strong independent woman and proud mother of four children.
Her instant humor, practical wisdom, and loving spirit touched many lives as she never failed to express her opinion. (Straight shooter from the hip)
