Mrs. Reta Mae Royals Ellis, was born in Pulaski, Georgia to the late Aleatha (Curry) Royals Williams and Walter “Son” Royals on May 3, 1945.
Reta attended the public school of Candler County and was a 1963 graduate of the Candler County Training School. On February 18, 1964, she married the love of her life, the late Elmore Ellis. Reta worked at Metter Nursing Home for a few years. She worked for many years at area sewing factories. She was a very talented seamstress, which led her to work for many years at several locate clothing factories. The enjoyments of sewing allowed her to sew from home for family and friends. As a career change, Reta went into dietary and worked at the Candler County Hospital. Later, she attended Swainsboro Technical College and became a certified Paraprofessional. Thereafter, she landed a position with Candler County School Board, which is where she retired from in 2013. Reta enjoyed traveling, studying the bible, attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, spending time with family, sharing the family history and taking care of her grandchildren.
Reta leaves to cherish her loving memory; three daughters, Darla Ellis and Tarshell Ellis, both of Statesboro, GA; Heather Ellis of Metter, GA; eight grandchildren, Nakeitha Murphy of Ft. Myers, FL; Clinton Murphy of Metter, GA; Avanessia (Avery) Mitchell of Jacksonville, FL; A’Maury Ellis, Armani Ellis, Jaeden Bell and Nakevia Carter, all of Metter, GA and Carla Needham of Miami, FL; eleven great-grandchildren, Maura Kelley, Marcus Kelley, Nalah Smith and Logan Smith of Ft. Myers, FL; Clinton Murphy, Jr. and AaCaylah Murphy of Swainsboro, GA; Josiah Posley, Jordan Posley and Londyn Posley of Metter, GA; Avi’Yea Mitchell of Jacksonville, FL; Chloe Williams of Miami, FL; one sister, Lila Rawls of Metter, GA; one brother-in-law, Reidell Ellis of Statesboro, GA; two sisters-in-law; Mary Alice Ellis of Metter, GA and Janice Ellis of Statesboro, GA; several nephews, nieces and other relatives and friends.
