Otis Thomas Mincey

Mr. Otis Thomas Mincey (Tommy) was born  on April 1, 1951 in Candler County, Georgia to the Late Otis Mincey Sr. and Mattie Mae Mercer Mincey. His Pa (Dorsey) and Ma (Emma) Mincey took him as their son and raised him from the time he was 13 months old. On Sunday, Otis slipped into eternal rest to be with our Heavenly Father and Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

During his early years he was educated in the schools of Candler County, graduating from Candler County Trainning School in 1971.  After graduating, Otis joined the United States Air Force. After being honorable discharged from the Air Force, he took on various jobs until he gained employment with the City of Metter in 1979 where he worked for 25 years as a water meter reader. Shortly after, he married the love of his life Joann  Mincey on July 15, 1989. Otis and his wife Joann worked for Candler County for many years.

Otis accepted Christ into his life, joining Jones Temple Holiness Church. Later he moved his membership to Steep Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his daughter, Theresa L. Mincey; his father and mother Otis (Matties) Mincey, Sr; his Pa and Ma (Emma) Dorsey Mincey; four sisters Nancey H. Corley, Diane Milledge, Camilla Harden, and Vernie Mae Mercer, and one brother, John Lewis Mincey.

He leaves to cherish his memory, His loving and devoted wife JoAnn E. Mincey; his son Otis Mincey Jr.; four daughters, AnnSylvia D. (Samuel) Henry, Sherwain M. (Kacy) Kirkland, Alma J. (Jeffery) Johnson, and Michelle D. (Joseph) Williams; four sisters Juanitia Pinkney, Millen, Ga. Novella Mincey, Metter, Ga.,Evelyn Lipcomb, Pooler, Ga., and Emma Griffin, Trenton NJ., Seven brothers Dorsey Mincey, Metter, Ga., Steve (Susan) Mincey, Stillmore, Ga., Benl Mincey, Columbus SC., Ben (Sonny) (Minnie) Mincey, East Orange NJ.,Father and mother-in-law, Arthur and Carrie Edwards, Metter Ga., two brothers-in-law, Mark Edwards, Waco TX., abd Jowayne (Lorraine) Edwards, Atlanta, Ga.,; Sister-in-law, Sheila Lewis, Statesboro, Ga. Special niece Schenise (Kevin) Cheeks; two uncles and one aunt; 15 grandchildren and 4 great grand children; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Otis will surely be missed by all that knew and loved him.
