Nelson Hobbs, Sr.January 12, 1939 ~ November 24, 2017 (age 78)
Nelson Brooks Hobbs Sr. was born on January 12th 1939 in Metter Ga, to the late Britt Stamp Hobbs and the late Lovely Holland. He attended Byrd Junior school in Metter Ga. As a young man Nelson enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing billiards. Nelson developed the skills of a “man-made swiss army knife”! If you needed it “Buck” as his close friends and family called him, could do it. Nelson was always a man of business and he received respect from many throughout the community. Nelson Hobbs made a living as a laborer at Continental Can, that later became Louisiana Pacific, as a machine operator. Nelson was preceded in death by his parents, Britt Stamp Hobbs and Lovely Holland, and his siblings T.J. Hobbs, Warnell Hobbs, Coy Hobbs, Robert Holland, Idus Hobbs, and Britta Mae Davis. Left to cherish his memory is his wife Myrtice F. McNair. He is also survived by nine children. Barbara Hobbs Dekle (Gary) Statesboro Ga, Nelson Hobbs Jr. Statesboro Ga, Lavern Hobbs Metter Ga, Curtis Hobbs (Faye) Statesboro Ga, Ricky Hobbs Metter Ga, Tony Hobbs Augusta Ga, Tara Hobbs Metter Ga, Cheryl Parrish (Wanzer) Metter Ga, and Nelsan Miron Hobbs (Talana) Statesboro Ga, and three stepchildren Yolanda McNair, John Johnson, and Lashonda Brinson. His surviving siblings are Theresa Mosley Portal Ga, and H.J. Mincey New Jersey. 20 grandkids and 22 great grand 1 great great grand and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends!
