Nellie Ruth Peeler Davis, the daughter of  late Boss Wells, Azilee Jackson Peeler and Clifford Peeler was born on October 3, 1940 in Tattnall County, Collins, GA.

Nellie Ruth was educated in New Rochelle, NY, where she completed high school at New Rochelle High School in 1959.  After completing high school, she attended a business school where she was trained in computerized typesetting. She then pursued her career as a licensed sales agent for a real estate business in Manhattan, NY for many years until her retirement.

At an early age, Nellie Ruth became an active member of Shiloh Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Houston Crutchfield and later Rev. Dr. Calvin G. Sampson where she served on the trustee board and in missionary department. She was also an active member of Maybelle Chapter #18, O.E.S. as a worthy matron and several other positions.

Knowing that the warmer climate was better for her health, Nellie Ruth relocated to Claxton, Georgia where she continued an active membership with Hagan Chapel Missionary Baptist Church in Hagan, GA. She also became affiliated with Sweet Evening Breeze #269, O.E.S., The Food Bank of Evans County, and other civic and social organizations. Nellie Ruth was an exceptional fundraiser and enjoyed organizing and hosting special events. After completing a special task or enjoying a wonderful meal/drink, her famous quote was, “IT WAS THE BEST”!!!
After her continuous and failing health, Nellie Ruth relocated to Metter, GA to live with her cousins, Frances and Grady McCray. Once relocated, she became affiliated with Mt. Pisgah P. B. Church.
